I recently listened to a teaching on 2 Cor 4:10-11 in which the teacher (Chad Gonzales) pointed out that the life of God in us is there “so that” it can give “life” constantly to our body. He also pointed out that the word “sin” can be exchanged by the word death or sickness. Jesus became sin for us and he took our infirmities so forgiving sin is interchangeable with healing. My private studies in the past agree with this. I even have a blog I called “Romans code words” because I discovered that death was code for curses and life was code for blessings.
Having this knowledge already primed me to receive the teaching Chad Gonzales gave. Andathat led me to the following re-wording or Healing Version of Romans Chapter 6.
Romans 6 Healing Version
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sickness, that health may abound? God forbid! How shall we, that are dead to sickness, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death; then like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: knowing this, that our old sick man is crucified with him, that dominion of sickness might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not be subject to sickness. For he that is dead to sickness is freed from sickness. Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dies no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sickness once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sickness, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not maladies therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in its lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of infirmities and weakness unto death : but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your body parts as instruments of health unto service to God. For sickness and paralysis shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under death but under life. What then? shall we be sick, because we are not under the curse, but under blessing?? God forbid.
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sickness unto death, or of health unto life? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sickness, but ye have obeyed from the heart that correct form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sickness, ye became the servants of health.
I speak about this because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to infirmity and to injury unto disability; even so now, yield your body as servants to healing unto wholeness. For when ye were the servants of sickness, ye were free from health. What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the result of disease is death. But now being made free from disease, ye become servants to life in God, ye have your fruit unto wholeness, and in the end everlasting life. For the wages of sickness is death; but the gift of God is a prosperous, abundant healthy life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
This, taken from chapter 6 of Romans is reworded using Biblical synonyms. Sin and sickness are considered synonyms based on Jesus’ interchangeable demonstrations. He forgave sin and healed people interchangeably. Jesus looked at someone who needed healing and said “your sins are forgiven.” He then healed the person after explaining there is no difference between forgiveness and healing. He took sin and infirmity upon Himself on tge cross and we are both forgiven and healed. The only thing we are doing wrong in getting sick is believing we can’t stop it.
I have concluded we should repent from sickness. Against God’s will we submit to it. Learning to stop submitting to sickness will start by repenting. . Realize that you have a choice in getting sick by agreeing with it or refusing it. I have made a world of progress in not getting sick in the last 15 years. All my testimonies are published on this website blog. I also believe I can repent from willingly submitting to staying paralyzed since 1985. The more I realize I am submitting to it, the sooner I will see change.
I play this version of Romans 6 audibly from my Word app daily. It’s very helpful.
